ARUA DIOCESE ORDAINS FOUR SEMINARIANS TO DEACONATE

The Bishop of Arua Catholic Diocese RT Rev Sabino Ocan Odoki has ordained four seminarians to the order of deaconate in a Holy Mass celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Ediofe Cathedral ceremonial grounds in Ediofe.
The ordination took place on Saturday January 25, 2025.
The Seminarians ordained are Charles Mugonza from Kabwogo Parish in Masaka Diocese, John Edema from Londonga Minor Basisila Parish in Arua Diocese, Walter Amagule from Oriajini Parish in Arua Diocese and Br. Mark Akawu Ocholi from Omugo Parish in Arua Diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Odoki thanked the candidates for welcoming God’s call and urged them to desist from sinful acts but rather live exemplary lives.
“You are a servant don’t start to put yourself high although people will put you high but feel humble to your heart, be simple because you are called to serve, even Christ born as a man put himself as a servant so we who follow Him have to understand our mission as servants, let’s pray for this new deacons so that they focus on what God wants them to do for the church.”

The Bishop appreciated the parents of the four seminarians for offering their children to serve the Lord, appealing to other parent’s to emulate the parents.
“I want to thank the parents of the deacons in a very special way because to raise a child is not an easy task, it involves a lot of sacrifice and responsibility to raise a child to become a responsible person like these deacons after, the parents I want to thank everyone who has participated in their formation in the formation houses, seminaries, schools they went through and all those who advised, counselled and cared for them which have all contributed to their success I pray to God to bless all of you,” he held.
Deacon Charles Mugonza and Deacon John Edema belong to the congregation of Missionaries of Jesus the Devine Master based in Arua Diocese, Deacon Walter Amugale is diocesan deacon of Arua Diocese and Deacon Mark Akawu Ocholi belongs to Franciscans our Lady of the poor based in Philippines and they will be ordained as priests after six months in July this year.
The event attracted Christians, politicians, religious brothers and sisters and priests within and across West Nile region.
