Police preliminary findings indicates that the 12-year-old girl fell prey to the suspect upon sharing the same room, when they were left at home alone.

"The matter was reported to Ayivu West Police Station by Mr. Azubu relev a 70-year-old resident of the same area and the father of the victim. According to initial reports, the victim, a 12-year-old girl, was left at home with the suspect, a 24-year-old cousin, while the father was away at work.
