AYIVU DIVISION APPROVES A MOTION FOR THE GAZZETTEMENT OF LUGBARA KARI

Ayivu division council has finally approved a motion for the gazzettement of Lugbara Kari by Ministry Of Gender Labor And Social Development, paving way for the recognition of the cultural institution by the ministry.

The sub-clans of Terego, Maracha, and Vurra had got the approval for the same from their councils earlier, and it was the failure by Ayivu division council that had dragged the gazzettment process of the cultural institution.

In their second council sitting, the councilors agreed to give a lee way for the gazattement of the Lugbara cultural institution, as presented by Joseph Afeti, the deputy mayor of the division.

“I have laid on the table the constitution, and the document relating to Lugbara Kari cultural institution for your attention, honorable speaker, I beg to move,” Afeti opened the floor.

Juakino Bada, the councilor representing Mbaraka ward admitted that, approval for the gazzettement of the cultural institutions will open ways for the resolutions of the leadership wrangle within the Ayivu sub-clan,

“We have ways of passing information, politically, religiously, culturally we can also pass information, so when these three bodies stand still and also strong, we shall be respected, whatever we shall ask for shall be given, all these sub-clans have at least signed their recommendations and submissions, it was remaining Ayivu, our work is just to approve, I stand to recommend that, we approve, and recommend for their re-organization,” Bada said.

Similarly, Yekonia Matua, one of the councilors said, the gazzettement of the cultural institution will bring a great deal for the Lugbara people,

“If we recommend this, these issues in Ayivu, in Vurra if they are there they will be solved,” said Yekonia.

Godfery Mbigiti Jonah, the deputy resident city commissioner for Ayivu division appreciates the council for finally approving the leeway for the gazzettment process saying it will bring unity among the Lugbara.

“These cultural leaders are going to work as a unifying factor of the Lugbara identity, in this world, there are some tribes which have extinguished, but when there is this cultural leadership, things stand,” Mbigiti said.

The Lugbara cultural leaders led by Jafar Alekua, the clerk to council of the Lugbara Kari who were in attendance of the council session failed to commend by press time saying, they only went to witness the process.
