Joseph Kyobe, the project launch chairperson called for both financial support and support in kind noting that the clergy who serve the community deserve support from the community as the work sets to start next month;

“The life of being a clergy person, whether a clergy man or a clergy woman is not easy and those ones who have sacrificed themselves to be there to serve in that docket, we deserve to respect them and they deserve our support. Our target is to begin as soon as this coming month of October.” Kyobe noted.

The representative of the guest of honor at the launch, Alemi William Kenyi equally urged the laity to stand responsible in supporting the church towards its development agenda;

“We know that we form the church and there’s no one else who can support in handling activities especially the development of the church if we are not there. And so when we are called as lay people, it is important for us to come and support.” Kenyi noted.

“Gone are the days when we use to think, that the church will always get money from out. And therefore, we need to rise up to the occasion as the laity to be able to support, and for the sisters that are doing foe us an amazing job, it is only befitting that we actually come forth and support them.” He urged.

Meanwhile Rev. Fr. Alex Andrua a representative of the clergy at the launch invited the community of the church to support the project noting that;

“Your support to the sisters is a support to the church, it’s a support to our own development in this area. Already your contributions are part of the journey we have begun. They say the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and the steps we have started taking today are moving towards that. We are praying that god will bless this journey to its successful conclusion.” Fr. Andrua said.

The fundraising launch realized a total collection of 12,100,000/= in cash and 7,114,000/= in pledges totaling to 19,214,000/= including about 90 bags of cement and other assorted items.

Paul Lule, the overall project chairperson appealed for continuous support from well-wishers;

“We still need more support, this is just the beginning. If you have friends, we are still going to move around and reach out to you for more support and other institutions. Please don’t get tired of us.” Lule appealed.

Over 80 years old and was originally built by Comboni Missionary Sisters, the Ediofe community house of the Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Gulu in Arua Diocese is in a severely dilapidated state and requires urgent renovation. The congregation through its Central Organizing Committee is appealing for more support towards this project.
