CHRISTIANS IN ARUA DIOCESE EULOGIZE LATE REV SISTER DOREEN OYELLA AS AN ICON IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Catholic faithful’s in Arua Diocese and around have eulogized the late Rev Sister Doreen Oyella as an icon in the Catholic Church whose legacy continues to be celebrated.
Several clerics and Christians within Arua diocese and around converged at sacred heart of Jesus Moyo convent to pay tribute to the fallen nun.
Sister Doreen passed away November 5, 2024 of hypertensive related complications from St. Mary’s hospital lacor at the age of 70.
The mass to celebrate the life of the late rev sister Doreen Oyella was presided over by the ordinary Bishop of Arua diocese Rt. Rev Sabino Ocan Odoki, co -celebrated by the other priests.
Among those in attendance of the mass were the state minster for primary education Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu, Member of Parliament west Moyo County Aleru Tom Aza, and clerics from Gulu Archdiocese, Lira Diocese and South Sudan.
Rev Sister Rose Mary Nyerobe the best friend to the late rev sister Doreen Oyella described her as a true pillar, a saint and a peaceful person who lived a holy life.
‘‘Sister Doreen was humble, most prayerful person, Doreen would spend her time near the cross of Jesus contemplating,’’ Doreen lived a saintly life,” she said.
The superior general for the sacred heart of Jesus congregation mother Felicita Humwara remarked the late Rev sister Oyella Doreen lighted the lives of many through her kindness which inspired many.
‘‘She has left a mark that cannot be erased and she has also enkindled the lives of many people in various places. The impact she made will be remembered for years to come,’’ the mother superior lamented.
The episcopal vicar, Moyo vicariate monsignor Elizeo Ovure said the late Rev Sister exhibited her spirituality throughout her service.
‘‘The life of late Sister Doreen is very challenging to us, she exhibited her vocation and her spiritually in style, and we have to emulate the legacy she left behind,’’ the vicar explained.
In his homily in the mass, the bishop of Arua diocese his lordship Sabino Ocan Odoki said that the late Rev Sister was a dedicated servant of God and an icon in the Catholic Church.
‘‘She had a special feeling for people suffering, she put aside her own suffering, she would get connected to them and give word of encouragement, sister Doreen is really an icon in the catholic church,” the bishop remarked.
Aleru Tom Aza, the Member of Parliament west Moyo County described the late rev sister as an evangelizer, mentor and a role model whose legacy will for forever be celebrated.
The State Minister for Primary Education also Moyo district Woman MP, Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu eulogized the late Rev Sister Doreen Oyella as a servant who sacrificed her life for Christ.
