CORRUPTION WAR: TWO ARUA CITY OFFICIALS INTERDICTED

Arua city senior civil engineer, Anthony Dradria and the city principal treasurer Adriko .B Sam have been interdicted from office for six months following their arrest by the Inspectorate of Government on October 15th this year.
The two interdicted senior staff of Arua city were arrested together with the managing director of Godmax services Ltd, on allegation of causing financial loss to the city council between 1st January 2022 and 31st May 2023 as they irregularly prepared Certificate of Practical Completion for the installation of 32 solar security lights on Oluko road that were inflated by 24.3 million shillings.
The act of these people is contrary to section 19(1) of Anti-Corruption Act Cap 116.
The duo were tried before the anti-corruption court in Kampala presided over by His Worship Albert Asiimwe, who granted a cash bail of 3 million shillings for the contractor , 1.5 million shillings for Anthony Dradria the city senior civil engineer and 1million shillings for the city principal Treasurer, Adriko B Sam.
Arua city town clerk David Kyasanku confirms that the two have been interdicted from office for six month to pave way for investigation.
“It’s very unfortunate that we received IGG here, had a meeting with stakeholders on the Oluko road, IGG found one or two mistakes and I was directed to interdict the following officers, one Sam Adriko and Dradria Anthony the civil engineer, for six months as investigations are going on, if they are exonerated they are allowed to come back,” Kyasanku disclosed.
The interdicted officers, Anthony Dradria and Adriko B Sam are expected to appear before the anti-corruption court again on December 12, 2024.
