CRIME: WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING 3-DAY-OLD BABY AT PAKWACH HEALTH CENTER IV

Police in Pakwach district are having in their custody a woman identified as Teddy Gipatho alias Patricia, for allegedly stealing a 3-day-old baby at Pakwach Health Center IV.
The new born was reportedly stolen by the suspect, who entered the facility, pretending to be heavily pregnant. She sat next to the new born mother’s bed, who gave birth through C-section and eventually made off with the baby on December 8, according to Police.
Police statement added that, the Parents of the new born Patricia Afoyorwoth and Jonathan Agenonga from Apapariyo “12” village, Wadelai Sub-County, upon noticing their child was missing under unclear circumstances, reported the case to police, who immediately swung into action.
The West Nile regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the incident in a statement, disclosing that the baby was discovered alive in a garden at Pajobi North Cell, Puvungu West- Ward, Pakwach Town Council, following a rigorous interrogation of the suspect, who reportedly confessed to have committed the crime.
“The child was located alive in a garden at Pajobi North Cell, Puvungu West Ward, at approximately 7:00 a.m. and reunited with her mother after a medical check confirmed her health” Asea explained
Asea added that, “Pakwach Police are actively investigating an incident involving the alleged abduction and recovery of a newborn baby in the Pakwach Town Council, West Nile region.”
The case is registered under CRB/706/2024.
Police commends community for their collaboration with the force assuring the public of following the case to its logical conclusion.
Parents are being cautioned to routinely monitor their children during this festive, as unscrupulous people, use any given opportunity to abduct or commit crime-related offenses to them.
