The emergence of electric motorcycles has attracted applause from the environmentalists in West Nile, as they relate the innovation to the efforts to protecting the environment from the gas emissions and the lubricant leakages that create havoc in the atmosphere.
The adoption of electric motorcycles in the West Nile is in its early growth stages, but demand is steadily rising as commercial riders seek relief from high petrol prices, and there is a great believe that, the innovation has come as a game changer in environmental protection.
Simon Peter Kumakech, the regional sales officer for the Spiro electric motorbikes says, the company is with the aim of advancing the technology to the rest of the areas to maintain a safe environment for every creature,
“The global warming majorly is contributed by the use of fuel which we have seen causing the eruption of the horizon layer in the atmosphere, so one of the visions that drove the owner to come with this is because of the rising temperature due to the use of fuel, this is going to be a long lasting solution, we are looking at replacing all the machines that use fuel,” Simon said.
Christopher Anyanzo, a rider in Arua city admits that, the electric machines have come to promote the wellbeing of nature, calling upon his colleagues to embrace it.
“It helps to protect the environment, there is no pollution of gases, my recommendation to these boda bodas is, the bikes are very okay, it’s just a matter of changing the battery,” said Christopher.
Similarly, Favorite Edeti, the environment officer for Ayivu division in Arua city appreciates the innovation, but calls for a means to manage the battery waste to improve its effectiveness in environment protection,
“A greater percentage of carbon that is emitted in the atmosphere that pollute our air have a significant impact on the environment, the lubricants that have been used they also pollute the soil, but when we talk about these electric motorcycles, they have an upper hand in the area of protecting the environment, my recommendations is that they have to devise a means of trucking the waste which comes from the used batteries,” Favorite said.
According to the environmental protection experts, the pursuit of high-performance, efficient electric machines are more than a technical challenge as it’s a critical part of global sustainability efforts.
