Stakeholders in Moyo district have rallied communities to embrace government programs for poverty alleviation which they say is meant to improve household income in homesteads which in turn boosts the economy.

Citing government programs like Emyooga, UWEP, youth livelihood and the recently brought PDM and GROW program, Chandia Bernadette Kodili an aspiring candidate for woman MP Moyo district tipped members to embrace the said government programs.

“There are many ways through which we can elevate ourselves from poverty, this can be through government programs. Let’s embrace them. The little money you get from PDM please do not miss use it let it be an addition to what you have.” Chandia appealed.

Ms. Chandia further appealed to community to be involved in activities that can bring money in their pockets.

Equally Ms. Jesca Onyiertho, the CAO moyo district asked people to work hard but in line with government targets.

“Look at the different programs and ask yourselves as you, what is it that you can get from and work towards it. There is nothing that will come on a silver plate and say come and eat. You need to work.” Ms. Onyiertho said.

In his speech on NRM liberation day, Hon. Aleru Tom Azza MP representing moyo district highlighted a number of government programs all aiming to eradicate poverty.

“Programs like operation wealth creation, under NAADS, youth livelihood, youth venture capital, Uganda women empowerment program (GROW), Emyooga and PDM all these, may our people take this so that we can alleviate poverty in our homes” Hon. Aleru highlighted.

Mr. Julian Sekamwa the deputy RDC notes the needs for mindset change for people especially the youth to understand the various programs.

“Let them come on board and be part of government interventions, it is very good most of the interventions are youth centered, the biggest stake of this money intervention goes to the youth but there nowhere. Let us engage them and change their mindsets if we don’t then, the real economy will condense,” Mr. Sekamwa said.

With the recent intervention through PDM, government of Uganda now works hard to push every citizen to target middle income status.
