Sacred heart early Childhood Education ECD Centre under the sacred heart chapel in Morobi zone II Palorinya refugees settlement in Obongi district lacks infrastructure in the school citing only one building which is way far below the needed capacity to accommodate all the over 600 children enrolled.

The child centre started in 2019 but till 2024, they are learning under trees without any support from partners or the community as the school encounters hardships during the rainy season and strong sun heat.

Arita William the lead care taker of the institution said they get some little support from the parents that enables them to push the school as he called upon the partners to extend helping hand in infrastructure despite the support in providing school requirements.

“We are looking for possibilities to be supported by temporary structure either a block with five rooms so that we can accommodate our leaners inside,” he noted
Mayanja, one of the parents said he is worried of the children learning under the trees which is at times too risky. “Our children are facing great challenge here, even the teachers but they are trying their best,” he pointed

Mayanza revealed that children are learning under trees in which during rainy season, other activities and even learning is affected.

On behalf of the refugee leaders, Kenyi Emmanuel Mogga the RWC 2 chairperson for zone two had this on the history of the school, “This school we know the history very well, the school is established under the church but there is a component of privatisation where it has been,” Kenyi stated.

He added that the RWC leaders are aware of the challenges the school faces including the high enrolment. “The problem is we have tried with partners like War child, Save the children and even Windle trust, the partners say the nursery schools are directly the responsibility of the community,” he added

According to the reports the centre is the best nursery school within the zone End.
