The family of a 16 year old boy is demanding for justice following the brutal killing of their son in a criminal crackdown operation in Komite Cell, Pokea Ward Ayivu division Arua city.
According to the family members, their son identified as Edmond Silas a primary six dropout of Ediofe Boys Primary School was called on phone at a time he was selling items in their family shop located in Komite cell, Pokea ward Ayivu division for a business by yet to be established faces who are currently doing operations to arrest criminals in and around Ediofe trading center.
Emmanuel Okuyo the Father to the deceased demands for accountability for the killing saying his son has never had any criminal record.
“If they found my son smoking, because they reported to me that he was found smoking, is that the way they should have beaten him? Because he is not a thief, everyone knows that he is not a thief but his friends were the ones who called him. Why did they kill my son? What did they find with him? And why did they leave others alive? They even removed his phone from the pocket as they killed him.”
Relatives and other people mourning.
On Saturday February 15, 2025, the Ediofe trading center committee chairman together with the Uganda police force organized a security meeting following the killing of John Izizing a 31 year old Musoga on 12 of this month by unknown persons at Ediofe trading center in which the security forces formed a committee of 115 members to launch an intelligence led operation to arrested all the suspected criminals within the peripherals of Ediofe trading center to bring sanity.
According to Micheal Baiga the Ediofe trading center committee Chairman who is spearheading the operations with his members of the committee, this is an unfortunate incident that they have not advocated for. He says they always brief the teams conducting the operation to ensure they don’t go against the law before they are dispatched.
“what happened yesterday was very unfortunate, this person was brought to our office when he was already very weak, I think they started beating him from wherever they got him and when they reached our office, we told them to take him to police or hospital because for us what we do is to arrest and hand over to the police. Before even our boys go for these patrols we tell them not to kill, we are not supposed to take the law into our hands.”
Last year in an effort to clean Arua city of criminals at least 6 people were reported dead for which no one has accounted.
Collins Asea, the west Nile regional police spokesperson when contacted reveal that his office has not received an official information regarding the murder case.
By press time the body of the deceased was taken for postmortem at Arua Regional referral Hospital whose reports indicate that the 16 year old boy died of internal bleeding from the injuries he sustained and later handed over to the families for burial.
