A section of Leaders in Northern Uganda have appealed to the government to listen to the voice of her citizens by timely working on different deplorable state of roads across the country.
This appeal was made during the consecration and installation of the Fifth bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese Rt. Rev Constantine Rupiny on February 22, 2025.
The Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese Rt. Rev Raphael P’mony Wokorach in His Homily asked government leaders to stop strong tendencies of politicization of issues for the people in the region to get better services.
“Much as we enjoy the apparent peace, our people’s most significant challenges such as schools, roads, seem to be ignored. We acknowledge the gap between the politics we have and the politics we need. We have politics that is highly commercialized, politics controlled by few. Most if not all understand that politics is business not mission. It is politics of handouts with poor services and this has worsened the poverty rate of our people.” Archbishop Wokorach said.
Correspondingly, the Local Council 5 chairperson of Nebbi district Hon Emmanuel Orombi expressed his dissatisfaction that, many pledges taken by the government have remained on papers.
In her response, the vice president of Uganda her Excellency Jessica Alupo revealed that, government is committed to respond to all the requests made by the leaders.
“I wish to assure you that all the issues raised on service delivery and infrastructure will be attended to by government” said the vice president.

When governments deliver services based on the needs of the people they serve, they can increase public satisfaction and reduce costs.
