HEALTH SERVICE COMMISSION DELIVERS EQUIPMENT TO ARRH TO EASE INTERNET ACCESS

Health service commission has delivered 5 computers to Arua regional referral hospital (ARRH) to provide internet access to health workers.

Professor Puis Okongo the chairperson of the health service commission says the ICT hub will provide internet services to all health workers in the region.

“We ensure that health workers have access to computers and internet for their own good so that they can do research and increase their knowledge, it is important that they have this specialized equipment for applying for jobs because the system that we use online is recognizing specification of documents that are scanned using certain standards.”

Victor waiswa the ICT officer   health service commission says the equipment will lessen the challenges of health workers traveling to Kampala to deliver their applications.

“Initially health worker were coming to health service commission to apply online, but with this hub in place, they can come and apply here, we have installed computers six all in one computers and one printer, giving them a Wi-Fi router and a TCP port.”
 
The commission has already trained 4 staffs from Arua hospital with knowledge of computer usage.

Anite Joyce a senior nursing officer at ARRH is delighted with presence of internet in the hospital. “It will make it easy to apply for jobs whenever they are advertised and also do our interviews because the interviews are going to be online and also as a nurse and working in the hospital, we have so many research that we are doing, the hub will also strengthen our capacity in doing our research.”

Dr. Asiimwe Ian the acting hospital director of Arua regional referral hospital says the ICT hub will serve a wide range of health workers in the region. “The service commission has given the community an opportunity to run their applications here for free so all you have to do is come here with your documents they will be scanned for you so you upload them on the platform and you apply easily.”

The health service commission spent over 165 million to provide ICT hubs across the 17 regional referral hospitals in the country.
