His highness Ulego Zacheus Andira has finally been crowned the 10th paramount chief of panyanga clan in Laropi sub-county Moyo district with aims of uniting cultural leaders, restore and promote cultural norms and values of madi.
The coronation of the paramount chief has been graced by lopirigo of madi cultural institution His Royal Highness Suru Simon Baru.
He said, “we want to be united and exemplary to our people whom we are leading in the community, our focus is development and support government so that our area can benefit from government interventions.”
The managing director of Traveller’s Inn Adjumani, Amba Richard Bakai appreciated the government of Uganda under the leadership of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for having reinitiated cultural institutions in the country to restore cultural norms and values.
“Those days some leaders by pass the chiefs but now with this we are going to restore our lost cultural values and norms when we seek directives from them,” he noted.
The local council 5 chairman of Moyo district Williams Anyama urged the paramount chief to preach the gospel of unity among dissatisfied chiefs and those who broke away and as Moyo district local government pledged total support to Madi cultural institution in promoting welfare of the people in the sub-region.
“Cultural front is not something that you should fight for it is natural, so we should stop fighting for these positions the holy book says, in my father’s house there are many rooms meaning in chiefdoms there are many offices different people can play different roles others can be ministers and others play role in development,” Williams echoed.

The state minister for primary education Dr. Moriku Joyce Kaduchu says, the paramount chiefs have continued to play a significant role in fights against teenage pregnancy among young girls.
“Those days you don’t see young girls getting pregnant at early age because boys and girls respect one another, you see most women take their key cardinal responsibility and counterparts but today you can’t see their cultural norms and values in them because the chiefs are not there to guide.” Minister said
