HOLIDAY MAKERS EXPLORE ICT SKILLS AT MUNI UNIVERSITY BUSINESS INCUBATION CENTER

Various students in Arua city are engaged in expanding their knowledge of Information Communication Technology (ICT) at   Muni University business hub.
The students were mentored in the field of coding, web design among others.  

Gabriela Asianzu Sam a student at Ushindi secondary school expresses her excitement in learning something she is passionate about.

“This program has helped me to stop being idle at home especially during the holiday, it keeps me busy and since I am one who loves ICT so much and what I learn, I help other with is and it has also opened my mind to understand and venture more in the world of ICT since I love it so much.”

Jonathan Carlos also a student at Ushindi says it is a great opportunity for the students during this holiday period.

“There is a lot of progress in the future where students will get an opportunity to solve problems like me I have been studying cyber security for a while and I went through also part of coding generating websites, I have seen that it will help in future in creating jobs even at home, students can be creating websites and help other companies and organizations around Uganda.” 

The technology officer at the business incubation centre at Muni University Geoffrey Eyotre reveals that they have mentored a number of students with different skills in the field of ICT.

“we have really trained a lot of people here if you look at only the number of high school student alone that we have trained over the holiday, we have skilled about 100 or more in terms of programing, we teach them in pattern programing language, we trained them in Django and then there those without the basic skills we trained them.”  

The Ministry of Education's Digital Agenda Strategy, seeks to enhance the utilization of digital tools and technologies by primary and secondary learners for improved education delivery in the country.
