More than 150 poultry farmers drawn from across Acholi Subregion attended the first ever farmers` training organized by Kamp Feed, premiered on “Animal-Poultry nutrition and management” for better returns.
Rumbidzayi Nyabadza, the chief executive officer of Kamp feed said that the main purpose for the training was to enable framers to take farming as a business and also to equip them with the best knowledge for them to make farming a viable business.
“Key issues that we are looking at are basically farm management practices and the importance of proper feeding for both animals and poultry birds which the farmers need to take seriously for them to reap big from their undertakings,” he noted.
Emmanuel Kagonga an Agronomist for Kamp feed appealed to all the poultry famers to make sure they develop proper feeding habit of their poultry birds if they are to get good results in three to four months. “For broilers if you want them to grow very first make sure food is in the feeders all the time this is because chicken always need to be eating but a moment you see your birds running towards you after they have seen you carrying something, that is a clear sign they are starving which is not good for their growth and health,” he said.

Freezer Onek, one of the farmers who attended the training said this a very good initiative which farmers should take very seriously and shouldn’t look at the number of chickens they have but they should look at the quality they will get after using pelleted feeds.
“we need to look at alternative ways of raising money in household that will support all the household needs like medication, school fees, feeding among others. so we need to look at small enterprises and this can be small scale farming like animal rearing, poultry farming that involve Kroilers, Broilers and others that have a very short period of maturity so that you can take it to the market and make some good profit so as farmers we need to embrace what Kamp Feed is giving us through training,” he remarked.
He also appealed to the management of Kamp feed to take some farmers for tour in their factory so that they can go and see how this feed is mixed from the factory so that when they comeback they will be the ones to tell other farmers what they witnessed from the factory.
Mr. Bagonga Ernest, the manager of Kamp Feed said that all their pelleted feeds are made out of local products which they get directly from the local farmers.
“All our feed are pelleted feeds that are from local produce such as grains, soya beans and they are safe for your animals and poultry birds.
