IGP TRANSFERS 135 POLICE OFFICERS

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abbas Byakagaba has effected several transfers and appointments in the Uganda Police Forces in a bid to improve service delivery.
In a statement to the Regional police commanders on Monday January 13th 2025, the IGP promoted and transferred a total of 135 police officers in different ranks under different police dockets of which 23 are senior officers.
According to Denis Ochama, the Regional Police Commander (RPC) West Nile region, at least 11 officers have been transferred away from the region ranging from the Deputy Regional Police Commander, District police commanders, Officers in charge of stations and those under the Internal security office.
“The inspector General made some changes and we were also affected in the region, the Deputy RPC has been appointed as the Deputy Commandant of Railway Police, we have also received a new Regional CID and equally in the districts there have been new changes made, all this is for improvement, it is normal and for the better.”
Kumakech Salim the Arua Resident City Commissioner who is the Head of security wished well all those transferred and implored those coming to work in the region to adhere to the operational guidelines as the region lies along two international borders.
“This is provided for in the Public standing Order, and I wish well those leaving the region and welcome those coming in, I ask them to work within their ethics and ensure the ultimate goal of peace, security and safety of property and lives is properly exercised”
Among the districts affected in the transfers include, Arua, Maracha, Terego, Koboko, Yumbe and Madi Okollo.
