Holy Rosary Catholic Parish Logiri also called Ketekele Parish in Vurra vicariate; Arua Diocese is extending the church to accommodate the growing Christian population in the parish with a call for support from across the diocese.
The five year project that began last year on February with a total initial budget of 800,000,000 UgShs is currently at the beam level and roofing is expected to be done by next year.
According to Rev. Fr. Charles Lwanga, the Parish priest of the parish, they’ve spent over 120,000,000/= which has been raised locally by the Christians. He is now appealing for extra support from outside to aid this extension;
“I’m now requesting the Christians of Logiri parish, and also the Christians who are not within this parish for their support to make sure that we finish this work of the church such that the Christians here may be able to pray well. As of now we pray in the church but it’s not advisable but we don’t have any other option because the resources have become hard,” Fr. Lwanga said.
“We are now praying and asking the outside world, the Christians of good will to support this project of extending the church of Holy Rosary catholic parish.” he emphasized.

The project chairperson Franco Onziyo fears that the high cost of the metallic roofing may demand them much pleading for support stakeholders;
“Roofing is going to be metallic and we may not afford the materials because each iron sheet costs about 125,000-128,000 Shs. Therefor we need support from maybe NGOs or from the diocese just like we also support in jegejege, we request that the bishop should support us,” Onziyo pled.
Similarly, Patrick Malice, a Christian in the parish has urged people of good will to extend them support towards the work at the parish, “We need a lot of support from the willing people, people who have the interest for development, people of logiri who are outside, friends of logiri. We are almost at the roofing level and we may soon dismantle the roof of this old church to make a temporary shade, I plead that people should extend us a hand,” Malice noted.
Ketekele parish has reportedly grown with an estimated population of over 20,000 Christians who can no longer be accommodated in the old church prompting the parishioners to extend the church.
The new church is expected to be finished on 2030 but currently, the Christians continue praying in the church as the works continue.
