Zhongmei engineering group limited the contractor undertaking the construction of Koboko Yumbe Moyo road together with Uganda National Roads Authority have embarked on a community sensitization program on health and safety for the people along the road.
From Moyo district, the sensitization started from Toloro and Eria parishes in Moyo Sub County. Ms. Asimwe Annet the sociologist who works with Zhongmei engineering group says this is to protect and build relationship with the company.
“The main purpose of the engagement is to come and tell you what is happening? how far we have gone?, what is going on? That is why we need to come together and work together. If we don’t communicate, each one will be doing his/her own thing but when we are together we would take one direction,” Ms. Asimwe said.
Ms. Morine Nyakayo from department of health and safety working says there are a number of signage along the road and have to be respected.
“As we try to promote safety, we have different signage along the road. When you go back try to explain to the community the meaning of the different signage so that we may not either destroy them and will help to guide us when using the road.” Ms. Morine explained.
