LEADERS UPBEAT AS GOVT FOLLOWS ADB APPROVED LOAN FOR LAROPI BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

Authorities in Madi sub region have expressed high level of optimism as the government of Uganda is said to be left only with follow up of the loan by African development Bank to construct Laropi Bridge and Laropi Moyo Afoji Jale road which process is now at the bank’s internal approval level.
Hon Bhoka George Didi the area Member of Parliament for Obongi said what is expected after the approval of the loan by the parliament of Uganda is for the parliament to follow up with the board and the management of the bank.
He added that, all is going to be done as soon as possible.
“The approval process by the bank is internal process within the African development bank but we anticipate as soon as possible because all the necessary paper works were done,” Bhako disclosed.
He added that as the approval has been done it will not take long for the approval of additional funding.
“The second level will be for the government of Uganda to meet the other requirements that majorly include the compensation of the persons affected by the project,” Bhako added.
Meanwhile Hon Simon Wokorach Peter the Member of Parliament for Aswa County who also sits in the committees of public service and local government during his visit to Madi sub region said the issue is already in the cabinet.
“Am standing here to say through the devolvement bank, we are ready to have Laropi Bridge, we now have the road from Laropi through here up to the border” Simon added.
Meanwhile Bakola Agata the deputy speaker for Moyo district local government said she is grateful that at last the plea has been hard by the government through negotiations that started with the local people up to the top.
“This development will creat a lot of business opportunities to the people of madi sub region,” she said.
After the African development bank disburses the money, that’s when the government of Uganda will go ahead in collaboration with the bank to procure a contactor.
