The Central Organizing Committee (COC) for the fundraising drive of immaculate heart of Mary Lima catholic parish has raised sh.2, 662,000 within a period of two weeks as part of contributions towards the construction works of the new church.

This was revealed during the fourth COC meeting at the parish centre recently.

According to Mr. Onziga Rasto COC treasurer, the money is raised mainly by the Christians of Lima chapel and COC where Christians give sh.50, 000 per family and sh.100, 000 by each COC member.

"Within the last two weeks of our COC meetings, I was able to bank shs.2,662,000 collected by the COC and Christians and this indicates that we shall move very far with our collections" he remarked.

Rasto says he is optimistic that the 200 million target may be achieved if all the Christians across the whole parish emulate the example of Lima chapel.
As the date for the fundraising is scheduled for March 22, 2025, Mr.Mangasa Stanislaus COC chairperson outlines some of key activities set to meet the target of 200 million.

"I want to inform you (COC) that our guest of honor for fundraising is got and he has chosen March 22, 2025 for the fundraising, as members of COC, we should begin some activities like distribution of invitation cards, contribution sheets, pledge cards, printing of banners, having talk shows and regular meeting, forming Sub committees in some zones" he emphasized.

Mr.Mawa Ayile Paul chairperson of the rescue team Lima chapel  assures the COC of raising over 80% of the contributions assigned to the Christians of Lima as Lima chapel plays pivotal role in the construction works and all will be achieved through teamwork. “I want to say that as people of Lima chapel, we should contribute generously because the church shall mostly be used by us and through teamwork we shall achieve our dream and I know 'Gods business will never fail', he commented.

Father Modesto Etrima Parish Priest of Lima catholic parish commends the COC for the efforts and total sacrifice they have put in the organization of the Fundraising.

“I call upon all the Christians of Lima from diaspora and within to give more support to the COC so as to have the church constructed," Father Modesto appealed.
