LUGBARA KARI DELEGATION TO ATTEND KING OYO BURIAL

The Lugbara Cultural Institution, Lugbara Kari, under the stewardship of His Highness Yuma Manasseh Amuku Agofe IV, has laid plans to join the people of the Tooro Kingdom for the royal burial of their fallen King, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, with a proposed budget of 5.6 million shillings.
While issuing a condolence message to the people of the Tooro Kingdom on Tuesday morning, the leadership of Lugbara Kari eulogized King Oyo Nyimba as an advocate for peace and a champion of youth leadership.
Rt. Hon. Ejiku Elly Emoo, the Prime Minister of Lugbara Kari, confirms that they will attend the burial of King Oyo with 14 representatives, adorned in “Koliba,” a traditional cultural dress code reserved for the burial of important people.

“Lugbara Kari stands in unwavering solidarity with Tooro kingdom. We are remembering King Oyo for the effort he has put in creating unity, youth empowerment, and preservation of our culture and of all things going down to the youth and giving his experience to them, Lugbara Kari is preparing to go for the burial of Oyo, we need to reach there,” Rt. Hon. Ejiku said.
Odipiyo Enock Stevenson, the Personal Secretary to the Agofe, remembers King Oyo for championing the preservation of rich cultural heritage, a sentiment that resonates with the Lugbara Kari anthem.
“I remember Oyo for his brilliant talks of preserving our culture, in culture we manage our land, and we manage our people using the laid rules by our ancestors, and this is exactly what king Oyo emphasized in Muni, what he talked is exactly what is in the Lugbara anthem,” Odipiyo remembered.
Similarly, Willy Banduni, one of the elders in Ayivu, has eulogized the fallen Tooro King, Oyo Nyimba, for his advocacy for the protection of land. He says the Lugbara people will honor the King’s burial in accordance with their cultural traditions.
“His emphasis on land protection to reserve our culture is a reality, when the 9 days of cultural mourning comes, we shall join Tooro kingdom adorned in our cultural accustoms for the burial,”
King Oyo Nyimba died at approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 27, 2026, at the age of 34, while receiving treatment in the United States. He is expected to be laid to rest after nine days of cultural mourning, following the anticipated arrival of his body in Uganda on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
