Key concerns raised by the community included poor road infrastructure, widespread poverty, poor performance in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), lack of clean drinking water, and inadequate health facilities.
Rose Apok, a resident of Amido village, said that the community desires for leadership that genuinely addresses their concerns and aspirations in the upcoming 2026 elections.
She said, "the people of Amido have spoken loud and clear—bad roads, poverty, poor education outcomes, and lack of clean water and health facilities are holding us back. These issues demand immediate action,"Apok said.
Responses
Opito pledged to collaborate with both local and international buddies to provide fruit and timber tree seedlings to community members.
Additionally, he committed to helping public institutions secure land titles and drilling boreholes to address the critical need for clean water.
"I will work tirelessly to bring change, starting with providing fruit and timber tree seedlings, securing land titles for public institutions, and drilling boreholes to ensure clean water for all,"Opito pledged.
Opito said that his leadership would focus on the welfare of the voters, citing past leadership failures where personal interests were prioritized over public good. "Oyam South has suffered for too long under leaders who prioritize personal interests over the welfare of voters. It's time for genuine representation that puts the community first,"Opito said.
Meanwhile, Tom Ojede, the NRM Party Chairperson of Loro, has called for unity among the candidates and urged them to embrace a politics of love and mutual respect as they compete for the party flag.
"As candidates vie for the NRM flag, let us embrace a politics of love and unity. Together, we can build a stronger future for Oyam South,"Ojede said.
