Moyo district council has laid out the draft budget of thirty billion nine hundred twenty three million nine hundred forty one thousand shillings 30,923,941,000= for the coming 2025/26 financial year.

Hon. Asusi JB Sam, the secretary for finance and administration laid the draft budget during the ordinary council meeting held on Friday 28th of March 2025.
The laid budget surpassed the current budget that was 29,781,892,000=.

“As a district the total budget for the next financial year is thirty billion nine hundred twenty three million nine hundred forty one thousand shillings 30,923,941,000=, I therefore lay that this august receive this budget for next financial year 2025/26.” Hon. Asusi laid.

Out of the total draft budget 955, 800, 000=, is expected to be raised from local revenue, 3.3 billion from discretional government transfers, shs 25 billion from conditional government transfers, 622,652,000= from other government transfers then 892,000,000= from external finance.

Hon. Emmanuel Amoko the district speaker commended the committee members for ably coming up with the draft that he said is accordance with NDP4.

“I thank the technical team for ensuring that the draft annual plan and budget for this council is produced at the right time. My appeal to you is let us move on together. We should also not forget that this budget should be in line with NDP4,” Hon. Amoko said.

According to section 77 of the local government act, a local government is entitled to come up with a draft budget as guided.

Hon. Williams Anyama the district chairperson appreciated the efforts of the councilors for the current running budget and asked them to do the same for 2025/26 budget proposal.

“I am glad that you have congratulated all of us because it was this same council that allocated the resources and the council comprises of all of us. So I want to say we shall continue to work together and ensure services are done for our people.” Hon. Anyama said.

The theme for 2025/25 budget is Full monitorization of Uganda’s economy through commercial agriculture industrialization expanding and broadening services, digital transformation and market access.
