MOYO DISTRICT STAKEHOLDERS URGED TO SUPPORT LOCAL FOOTBALL

Stakeholders in Moyo district have been encouraged to support local football, as the district has talented sons and daughters who could even participate at the national level.

This appeal was made over the weekend when Arsenal fans in Moyo held a party celebrating their team after being crowned the champions of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.

According to them, the Madi sub-region has a lot of talent in football and other sporting activities, but these talents are not supported like those in other regions.

Junior Apilaga, one of the Arsenal football fans, said it could be of great benefit for all stakeholders to come together and invest in local football so that they can identify talented players and help raise the profile of the sub-region.

“What are we going to do to support local football, my feeling is this been a football thing as RDC, Minister all the stakeholders can we join hands and begin to support own football in our locality,” he notes.

Julian Sekamwa, the Deputy RDC for Moyo, urged the various football fans not to take international football personally, but instead use it to build friendships and learn from each other.

“Let us use the moment of supporting international football to interact with each other each, known what is good the other side, also learn from each other” RDC noted

The State Minister for Trade and Cooperatives, Hon Alero Tom Aza, pledged his total support to developing sporting activities in the sub-region, citing that sports bring a lot of development. “Sports a code the capacity to develop the nation, to bring people together for development,” Aza said.

He also added that football has the capacity to bring unity and love to society. “It also has the capacity to bring mobilization, sensitization and educating the people to embrace development” Tom noted
