MOYO GIRLS PRIMARY SCHOOL REGISTERS FIVE SPECIAL NEEDS LEARNERS FOR PLE

In an effort to prepare the primary seven candidates for primary living examination, a cross section of primary schools in Moyo district did start their pre PLE for their candidates as a way of setting the ground for primary living examination.
5 pupils with special needs in Moyo girl’s primary school who registered under special interest group are sitting for the examination.
According to Asiali Rose Alba the head teacher of Moyo Girls primary school Annex for the blind, out of the 27 total registered candidates for PLE, five candidates registered under special needs who are already sitting for the papers. “We have registered five candidates for the primary living examination under special needs who are already sitting for the examinations” the head teacher disclosed.
Ijoreya Betty Bore, the teacher in charge of special needs in Moyo girl’s primary school said a lot of attention was paid to the leaners with special needs. “At our school here, we prepare our children by giving them the examination that they are going to sit. Not only that before the examination we give them remedial lessons” she noted
Bore added that after teaching them with the ordinary children in the main stream they are given extra lesson in the resource room.
According to the schedule of UNEB, leaners under special needs education are given extra time according to Lowirigo James Addison the chairperson for Moyo district academic panel for primary schools. “For example Mathematics is two and a half hours. For them they are given extra minutes so that it will make them to finish the work which is assigned for them, for instance brail work cannot be read faster and using the machine takes time” James said.
