Police in Moyo District have recovered two bodies of men who were allegedly killed about a month ago and buried in Murula Village, Aluru Parish, Aluru Sub-county.

The bodies were recovered on Tuesday evening, August 25, 2026.

One of the deceased has been identified as Iranya James, 42, a resident of Pamoju South Village in Aluru Sub-county, while the identity of the second victim remains unknown. He is suspected to have been a resident of Metu Sub-county.

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged killings. They are Jurugo Paskayo, 55, a resident of Lawi Quarter in Moyo Town Council, and Sele Marino, 45, a boda boda rider at Zawidi Boda Boda Stage and a resident of Logoba Village.

Tako Dominic, the LC1 Chairperson of Pamoju Village in Aluru Sub-county, says his office received information about the incident through the GISO.

“After getting the information, we had to move to the police station to find out and register. When we reached there, we found that the police were already aware of the incident. What they told us was that somebody had reported to them that two people had been killed and buried,” Tako told Radio Pacis.

Tako added that during their interaction with police, they learned that one of the suspects had already reported himself to the authorities.

Rose Dramaru, a resident of Pamoju South and a relative of Iranya James, one of the deceased, says the family only learned about his death after they had gone for a long time without seeing him.

“I last saw him in January. He had gone to graze someone’s cattle, and recently, last week, we learned that he had been killed just like that,” she said.

After the bodies were exhumed, one of the doctors who came from Arua Central Police Station reportedly told the relatives that they could collect the bodies.

According to Sele Marino, one of the suspects, the two men were allegedly killed after they were accused of stealing cassava.

The suspects were arrested after they reportedly voluntarily reported to police and allegedly confessed to killing the two men.

Police are expected to conduct further investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the motive behind the alleged killings.
