The area Member of Parliament for Obongi County Bhoka George Didi has urged the beneficiaries of vocational skills training not to put to waste the skills they have acquired.

He made this appeal while passing out 226 students from both the refugees and the host community after successfully completing three months hands on skills training in St Martine Comboni Missionaries Palorinya recently.

The MP who was the chief Guest during the graduation ceremony said the skills acquired will help the beneficiaries in social economical productive activities.

“What we are celebrating is access of knowledge, skills and competency that should match the right tool and hopefully a startup capital to help you be able to become productive members in your communities” he pointed.

Meanwhile Kato Freeman from the ministry of Gender Labour and social economic development said their scope targets the vulnerable people.

“We are looking at the most vulnerable children and teenage mothers who are much affected as we want to restore hope and future in their lives,” he said.

On the current status of the refugees, they are transitioning from emergency to resilience.

Andrew Cohen the UNHCR representative present in the function said that, they don’t want to see that life of a beneficiary is going back looking at the population for such opportunities,” he said.
Whereas Julius John the assistant settlement commandant for zone one said the partners are doing a lot in restoring hope for the vulnerable people.

Luwal Generous, program manager save the children said their focus was basically to skill the teenage mothers.

“As you can see, they are all having babies, so we were looking at empowering and skilling such groups,” she said.

The beneficiaries walked away with smile as they were given startup kits to start their businesses to earn a living in the economically harsh community.
