A 17 year old student at Ngai Secondary School is stranded and unable to continue her studies after Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde failed to fulfill her promise to pay her school fees.

Vicky Atim, a Senior Four student, is facing challenges after Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, a respected public figure, did not honor her commitment to provide school fees for Atim from Senior Two to Senior Six.

The promise, which Atim had relied on, has not been fulfilled, leaving her stranded and uncertain about her educational future.

Atim recalled that on July 23, 2023, during campaign rallies for the Oyam North by-election, the NRM Party was seeking votes for Junior Okello Samuel, the son of the late Okello Engola. It was at Omac P.7 School, in broad daylight, that the promise to support her education was made.

“After being expelled from school due to unpaid fees, I started selling maize to raise the money I needed to continue my education. While I was busy making the sale, a group of people approached me and asked about the price of the maize. I explained to them that it cost either 100 or 200,”Atim said.

Atim added that “One of them asked me, ‘Which class are you in?’ I replied, ‘I’m still in Senior 2.’ At that moment, the man went down the road and spoke to Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde that this young lady is in Senior 2, but her challenge is paying school fees.’ Rosemary said, ‘From today onward, I will support her with school fees from Senior 2 all the way to Senior 6.’ The community erupted with joy, clapping and celebrating her,’’

Jonnani Okot, the school headteacher

She expressed her frustration with being frequently interrupted by the school administration over unpaid fees, saying at times, she is even sent back home, a situation she feels is jeopardizing her dream of becoming a police officer.

Atim, however, appealed to Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde to fulfill her promise. She also called upon any well-wishers to step in and support her so she can achieve her dream of becoming a police officer.

“I urge Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde to fulfill her promise so I can continue my education and achieve my dream of becoming a police officer. Likewise I call upon well-wishers to step in and help me reach my goals,”

When approached to verify the situation, Ngai Senior Secondary School authorities confirmed that their efforts to persuade Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde to fulfill her promise of supporting Atim Vicky’s school fees were unsuccessful.

Jonnani Okot, the school head teacher said he made numerous attempts to reach out to Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde regarding her promise, but unfortunately, his efforts have been unsuccessful.

Radio Pacis notes evidence of a WhatsApp conversation and letter to Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, along with her response regarding the matter. This exchange sheds light on the ongoing situation and her stance on fulfilling the promise.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde regarding the matter were unsuccessful at press time.
