West Nile has once again demonstrated its rich sporting potential after Oasis Primary School Arua made history by winning the boys’ football title at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Oasis produced a dominant and unbeaten campaign, winning all six of its round-robin matches against teams from Uganda’s neighboring East African countries. The Arua-based side scored 19 goals and conceded only two throughout the championship.
The historic victory marks the first time Oasis Primary School has won the FEASSA football championship, following two consecutive years of participation without a trophy.
Oasis’ road to FEASSA gold
The primary boys’ football competition was played on a round-robin basis, with Oasis taking on six opponents during its campaign.
| Match | Opponent | Country | Result |
| 1 | Monire | Kenya | Oasis won |
| 2 | Kibamba Primary School | Tanzania | Oasis won 2-1 |
| 3 | Bungo Primary School | Tanzania | Oasis won 3-0 |
| 4 | Nyabondo | Kenya | Oasis won 4-1 |
| 5 | Agongo | Kenya | Oasis won |
| 6 | Rwanda representative | Rwanda | Oasis won |
Oasis technical coach Jordan Mas Mawa said the triumph was a result of proper planning, determination and lessons learned from the school’s previous FEASSA experience.
“I am very happy that we have won gold in Morogoro. It was basically done through good planning. We organized the team after failing to perform well last year in Kakamega, Kenya. We picked valuable lessons and laid down strategies on how to excel.”
Mawa said the victory also demonstrated the depth of football talent in West Nile, a region he believes deserves greater investment in sports development. “West Nile is blessed with talent. We showed people football; we were like Brazil here,” Mawa said.
His comments reflect the team’s impressive statistics. Oasis finished the competition with six victories, 19 goals scored and only two conceded.

Oasis Schools administrator Dradebo John Bosco attributed the historic achievement to the support provided to the team but challenged stakeholders in West Nile to invest more in school sports.
“To my people of West Nile, we have talent. We need to grow this talent. If our boys emerge champions and they have an unbeaten record that means we have great talent here. We need to promote it and invest a lot in sports,” Dradebo said.
For the school, the achievement is more than a trophy. It is a signal that sustained investment in grassroots sport can create a pathway for young athletes to compete at regional and international levels.
The 2026 edition was the 23rd FEASSA Games, hosted in Morogoro, Tanzania bringing together thousands of participants from across the region and featuring competition in Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Education categories.
For Oasis Primary School, the Morogoro conquest is the peak of years of participation and preparation.
Player Jonathan Mungufeni said the team is now ready for the next challenge and determined to represent Uganda with confidence. “We are going to represent our country. We are ready and we are not fearing,” Mungufeni said.
The victory has therefore opened a new chapter for Oasis Primary School and its young players, while placing renewed attention on the need to identify and invest in West Nile’s grassroots sporting talent.
With six wins from six matches, 19 goals scored and only two conceded, Oasis has given Uganda a memorable regional triumph and provided a strong foundation for the next stage of its young players’ sporting journey.
