Residents of Otce sub-county Moyo district have called for peaceful and fair elections as they draw closer to the 2026 general election in Uganda.
This appeal came about the unfair elections that happened in the past years marred by violence.

Batio Beatrice a resident from Ayaa central village highlights on the indiscipline of some politicians during campaigns. “For the politicians normally when they come for Campaigns instead of talking about their manifesto others go on abusing their opponents up to the extent of exposing the sickness saying so and so has this condition when you elect him/her will not manage and stay for long she will die” Batio Emphasized.

Whereas Ozzi Tobias a pastor and a community member in Pajakiri parish Ayaa central said politicians should look in to tangible projects for the community like constructing a nursery school in the area instead of giving individuals money.

“To our candidates during these five (5) years at least when they are in positions of earning salaries instead of giving 1,000 shs to individuals why can’t they really help the community to start a nursery school which can be of a great impact like for us here in Ayaa central village we don’t have a nursery school,“said Ozzi

Meanwhile Sargent Adupa Jimmy the community laision officer Otce police station requested the community not to cause chaos during elections.

“My request to the community is that they should not cause violence, we need the election to be peaceful and we are as well guiding them as law keepers in the various communities “Lamented Adupa.

However Dulu Samuel the local council III Chairperson Otce sub-county advised the local communities to focus much on productive work.

“I am aware this is election period but only advice to the local community is to take responsibility people should focus more on doing productive work things related to farming, other kind of business instead of looking for the candidates expecting such kinds of money like 1000shs from politicians which may not support them at-all” Dulu Expressed.
