More than 4,000 young patriots drawn over 25 secondary schools within Gulu City were passed out from Gulu High school playground after undergoing a 2week patriotism training program.
The Resident City Commissioner of Gulu City, Jane Frances Amongin Okili, has encouraged the students to keep up with the spirit of patriotism as it is what will guide them to live a meaningful life in their country Uganda.
“Be what the certificate is saying, that you will love yourself, when you love yourself, you will not want to endanger yourself, you will protect and preserve yourself for Uganda. When you love Uganda, you will not harm Uganda, you will not join bad company, you will not destroy any property of Uganda, starting from your school. There should be a distinction between you and those who are not patriots,” she said.
The Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Brdege-Layibi Division, Kamba Ahmed, reechoed that patriotism is part of life and urged the students to carry-on with patriotism as it is now their obligation to lead the community to success.
“Patriotism is a national cause, a national requirement, the master key to our national building for development and for success. It is patriotism that tells us to serve, serving the community, your country, yourself, it tells us to be loyal to everything and sacrifice, “ he noted.
This year`s pass out marked the 3rd edition of the program after it was rolled out in 2022.
