Leaders of the Parish Development Model (PDM) Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations, or SACCOS, in Oyam District have received tablets to enhance their work and improve the efficiency of the PDM.

Of the 166 tablets, 77 have been allocated to Sacco chairpersons, 74 to parish chiefs, 16 to Community Development Officers, and one each to the District IT Officer and District Statisticians.

During the handover ceremony held at the Oyam District Headquarters, District Commercial Officer Alex Enon explained that the tablets are intended to ease the profiling of beneficiaries and ensure timely disbursement of funds.

Oyam District LC5 Chairperson Benson Dila expressed optimism that the tablets will significantly improve the performance of the Parish Development Model.

’’Profiling beneficiaries has been an issue. Disbursing money to the account of a beneficiary has been an issue. So by giving them the tablets today, we expect them to perform very well. We expect the outcry of stealing money or collecting money to not be there. Give money as early as possible. I strongly want that,’’Dila demanded.

Meanwhile, Herbert Fredrick Kitutu announced that the PDM Secretariat officials will soon be releasing funds and urged SACCO leaders to use the tablets to speed up the disbursement process.

‘’We are going to get PDM funds, immediately the funds come. Please do what you are supposed to do. We don't want money to remain on the account. This money is not for keeping, to generate profit. It is for a particular target for people who we know. I will be glad that once the money comes, as long as it is available and everything is done, it is spent in one week. Lastly, my Sacco leaders, don't be tempted. The others have been making mistakes,’’ Kitutu said.

Christine Nyana, the Community Development Officer of Loro Sub County said the tablets will help her department make timely reports about the performance of the program.

‘’Number one, it will really help us to carry on Monitoring of PDM activities and other related programs within the system. The work that's supposed to be done for one week, can be done within five minutes if we really dedicate ourselves to using those tablets,’’Nyana said.
