Different stakeholders have appealed to parents of children in Nursery schools to consistently support their children through their education journey.
During the graduation ceremony for children who have completed the nursery level at Mama Sylvia Nursery and Primary School, the main celebrant at the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Richard Lender Obedi urged the parents to continue with the kind of support they gave to the child during nursery level to motivate them in learning.
“We do everything for a child in nursery, in the morning the child is taken to school on boda boda with a dish full of food, but when a child is promoted to primary level, they are left to live on their own. Most times people like the nursery level of education, when they reach primary, no one cares, you need to know that these children had a soft life in nursery but you now leave them in primary and don’t even pay their school fees. I think this is a very bad habit,” he remarked.
Similarly, the Chairperson School Management Committee Chairperson John Bosco Olaa also implored the parents to work hard to prevent their children from dropping out of school.
“We should prioritize education so that our children can study till the end, while you are still living, do not allow your child to drop out of school because of money, try, pray to God, and work harder, then you will see yourself succeeding and your children will finish their educational journey.”
Meanwhile, the Bardege Layibi City Division speaker, Robert Komakech cautioned them to avoid alcoholism but rather adapt the spirit of saving.
“If you are here and drink, these children have taught us well today, let’s go back and save the money we always waste on “Kabisa” the one we waste on “Adrikos”, for bringing them back here next year,” he said.
Out of over 2 million children who join primary level every year, only about 1 million of them complete primary level with a number of reasons pushing their colleagues to drop out of school.
