POLICE INTERVENES AS OVER 300 HUTS BURNT IN MADI OKOLLO DISTRICT AFTER MOB ACTION

Police at Madi O kollo central police station are currently investigating a case of assault involving 19 people, 7 from Paraandra cell and 12 from Oguruku Cell occasioning murder of Arnold Angundru 25 year’s old, resident of parandra cell that resulted into burning of more than 300 huts with properties at Oguruku cell, Enyio ward in Madi Okollo District.
According to Akim Abima a resident of Oguruku Cell who reported the issue to the police, there was an introduction ceremony on Saturday at Oguruku cell where eight people were assaulted by unknown people during the disco dance.
This was confirmed by the West Nile region police spokesperson SP Collins Asea, "Territorial police of Madi Okollo CPS are currently investigating a case of Assault (19 people, from paraandra cell and 12 people from Oguruku cell) occassioning murder of Mr Angundru Arnold (deceased) 25 years old a resident of parandra cell that resulted in to burning of more than 300 huts with its properties at Oguruku cell,Enyio ward,T/c in Madi Okollo District. Reported by Mr Abima Akim a 28yrs old, resident of oguruku cell.”
This led to a group of youths from Parandra cell to attack the Oguruku cell and burnt over 300 huts on allegations that they are the ones who assaulted their people leaving one dead.
Those who got injuries were admitted at the various health centers within Madi Okollo District and the body of the deceased taken to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for Postmortem.
According to Asea, the police has deployed on the scene to stop further attacks from both cells as investigations continue.
