Police have urged the members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviors to the relevant authorities in order to curb crime, enhance road safety and prevent criminal activities during the Easter holiday.
Easter is a period of commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and considered the cornerstone of Christian faith as well as a time of profound celebration of renewal and hope for Christians globally, such festive periods can unfortunately increase Christian’s vulnerability to criminal activities if not spend with caution.
In a statement released by the police public relations officer for West Nile region SP Collins Asea, he emphasized the significance of Easter for the Christians while underscoring the need for increased security awareness.
“As Easter approaches, let us be alert and neighborhood watch should be there always know your neighbor and what the person is doing because in most cases we find new people in an area without proper identity and no job address and it is also rain season, do not leave your doors open when you are not at home or at night when you are sleeping, thieves take advantage of such things so let us increase our vigilance in order to make Easter peaceful for everyone,” he appealed.
Asea further issued a strong appeal to all motorists to strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent accidents during the Easter holiday, which often sees increased traffic on roads.”
“I also want to appeal to road users to not get excited on the road because you are not the only person using the road in order to avoid accidents which you may not cause to yourself alone but to other road users as well, let us follow all the traffic rules and regulations and road safety signs in order to have safe and meaningful Easter celebrations together,” he added.
Police also cautions the public to maintain heightened vigilance, emphasizing the importance of individual awareness and the strengthening of security measures around homes, worship places and businesses premises.
