POLITICAL TENSIONS RISE AS NINE SHOW INTEREST TO UNSEAT ADRIKO YOVAN

Arua district Resident district commissioner Swaib Toko has threatened to arrest potential candidates of the 2026 general elections following mushrooming allegations of bitter exchange of words and confrontational attacks during consultations.
The RDC who shared personal experience of attacks by some of the potential candidates who are currently serving in offices, reveal that it is immoral and against the constitution.
“I particularly want to caution those incumbents, there should be no tension if you’ve done work, there should be no confrontation, violence that one we shall not accept, some have even gone ahead as far as insulting us. Those who will be abusing us, we shall arrest them”
West Nile Regional Election officer Juma Shesa warns those planning to contest to reframe from early congregation of populace before an official announcement by the electoral commission.
According to Juma, the confrontations are uncalled for and criminal in nature that can attract legal battles.
“If they fight or quarrel, at the end it is a police matter which is a breach of law then we shall come in and other security agencies.”
Yovan Adriko the Member of Parliament Vurra constituency Arua district distances himself from the fights reported to be developing during political consultations orchestrated by the incumbent politicians.
“People who are fighting him are the local government leaders, I don’t see the image of competing for me I want people to come many so that people can choose good thing out of many and the good thing there is only me, am the best candidate.”
At least 9 potential candidates have designed posters to contest in the position of Member of Parliament of Vurra constituency with one female all vying to unseat Yovan Adriko.
