The police in Terego district have arrested and detained the site contractor of Mt. Health Center III construction site in Omugo Sub County only identified as Ecoku, for having failed to complete the work timely.
His arrest was pronounced by the Resident District Commissioner of Terego Mr. Angalia Godwin on November 7, 2024.
According to the RDC, the police is also looking for the real contractor who is currently nowhere to be seen. “There are so many things that are happening at Mt. Wati Health center III construction site. We are now looking for the real contractor because we only captured the site engineer. The actual contractor in the morning, his phone was off yet he told me he was going to meet me on November 06, 2024, the day when we arrested his counterpart. So, we are trying to get him since he is part of us but we pray that he will come because there are some answers that we also need from him and when I went there, there was completely nothing and I had to proceed with the arrest,” said the RDC.
He therefore challenged all the district councilors to closely monitor such government programs. “So please councilors, it is also your role. You may not arrest but you can report to police or to me and I will come. It is your role to monitor all government programs in your respective constituencies,” added the RDC.
The arrest of the site contractor follows their unfulfilled commitment that, the site would be handed over to the government by August this year.
