Stakeholders in Moyo district have finger pointed at each other for the poor performance in education in the district accusing each other of not performing their roles as stakeholders.
This follows the poor unpleasing results from last year’s PLE where the district only got twenty nine (29) first grades.
Mr. Leju Emmanuel the chairperson Moyo business association pinched parents for the poor performance.
“Our level of performance in our schools is not pleasing, and I think we need to work together. You know in a healthy family where there is enough food children grow healthy, they go to school you can be able to support because there is income but where there is problem you find a child goes with such challenges and child do not perform well.” Mr. Leju said.
On his side Mr. Mawa Patrick the principle of St Andrews College Moyo blamed the local government education department.
“We need to pay attention to the district education department, we have been calling education forum but the talks remain there, Madi are very good at spoken, we can speak trans night. Therefore Moyo has got a government focal primary or secondary school that they can lean on. When you go to Arua there is Ombaci, serious school when you go to Gulu, there is Layibi a very serious school.” Mr. Mawa said.
Hon. Anyama Williams, Moyo district chairperson says it is a disappointing result but challenged leaders to take their responsibilities.
“The biggest challenge we have is not infrastructure, not lack of teachers but the quality of the grades. We are able to produce quite a number of second grades but our problem is converting those to first grades and eliminating failures. This should be our collective responsibilities, in the recently released PLE, we got only 29 first grades, it is very embarrassing and disappointing but we should take it to perspective of responsibility so that we all challenge ourselves and improve this in the coming year.” Hon. Anyama said.
Hon. Aleru Tom Aza, the MP representing the district accused every stakeholder of not playing their roles.
“All the stakeholders have not played their roles, only 29 first grades, compared to other districts where 29 is only for a school that means we have to double our efforts. The education department should come on board especially in the inspectorate department, they should really inspect the school other than leisure fare attitudes among the teacher in most of the schools,” Hon. Aleru said.
In the 29 first grades, Moyo obtained in PLE last year, 19 came in from Homing Dove international primary, a private school.
