Parents have important roles to play in providing quality education to their children, and are called to take up their roles and responsibilities in uplifting the standard of education in West Nile region,

They serve as role models, providing guidance, setting examples, and engaging in discussions to instill essential principles and morals in their children.
This was at the education conference organized by Ayivu division at Muni University in Arua city.

Rev Father Professor Odubuker Picho Epiphany, a prominent educationist in the region discourages the parents from blaming the teachers for the poor performance of their children in schools, instead of handling their responsibilities expectedly,

“The children stay with you from 5pm up to about 6 or 7 am, what use are you making of your children in the 16 hours the children are with you? And at the end of the year, you are blaming the teachers…..” Picho said.

Similarly, Alio  Zackary, the former deputy principle of Arua core PTC emphasizes on the roles parents are required to play in the education of their children in the universal primary education to bring academic glory to the region,

“Universal primary education according to the policy is not free education, if you look at that book of 2008, it stipulates where parents should support schools,” Said Alio.

Imelda Ozitiru, a teacher of St. Josephs College Ombaci, who is also a parent pleads to the society to change some of its norms that retards the quality of education in our region,

Geoffrey Mugomba, the town clerk of Ayivu division affirms that, there is need for the region to uplift the standard of its education to benefit from the current affairs of the country better,

“The share of the National cake is dependent on the level and quality of education you have offered to our children …” Mugomba said.

Parents provide critical support in areas like intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth, helping students evolve into responsible citizens.

However, the nurturing environment, love, guidance, and support a child receives at home are continuous and form the foundation of their overall development.
