Stakeholders in Arua central division have re-echoed the need for combined efforts to improve the performance of leaners in the city.
This was emphasized by the inspector of schools in Arua city at the rewarding ceremony of best PLE performers in central division.
The senior education officer in Arua Central division Geoffrey Asiku in Arua city says there is need for joint efforts to support the leaners in school.
“To make a child succeed is a cycle, a child who is in in the center must be surrounded by the government stakeholders, the teachers, the parents, we all need to join hands because if one stakeholders pulls off, let me say the parents even if the teachers teach, am telling you this child will not pass.”
The head teacher of Arua hill primary school urges parents to personally be interested in educating their children.
“I pray plead to the parents to register their children please, and please I appeal to the parents to be interested and concerned about their children’s education and even follow them up to school.”
The chairperson of private school teacher association of Arua city Geoffrey Etoma says teachers need to give extra time for the candidate classes.
“The curriculum is in a way that people teach up to the last day of the school and yet if you look at the setting of UNEB in primary seven less than 20 % of the work is coming from P7 class, if only 20% is coming from p7 class and yet the bigger portion is coming from classes from p1 up to primary six that means that our schools must create time to support these children because a child cannot pass p7 in p7 class, the child must have content of these other classes.”
Arua central division registered improvement in the general performance of candidates though the number of candidates in division 1 in 2023, outweighed the number in 2024 by 2.9%.
