UNYAMA NATIONAL TEACHERS` COLLEGE GRADUATES MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND STUDENTS.

A total of 1071 graduands have graduated with diploma and certificate in Education from National Teachers’ College Unyama on Friday the 14th of June 2024 during its 8th graduation ceremony out of which 683 qualified with Diploma in education secondary, 381 attained diploma in primary education meanwhile 3 passed out with certificate in early childhood development and 4 got awarded with certificate in child care.

Dr Safina Kisu Museene, the acting director of higher education and   Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET who represented the state minister for higher education Dr John Chrysestom Muyingo as the guest of honor at the graduation ceremony encourages the fresh graduates to continue adding more skills to their profession. "you are going out today as good citizens with a lot of knowledge because you were taught in various skills that cannot allow you to go on the streets and start doing nothing since you can get employment opportunities either in government or private sector but also, you can be a job creator and employ yourself and others", "you have no excuse, there are many initiatives that the government has put in place especially skilling Uganda initiative but also the presidential initiative that are in every district like industrial hub should be uses by you the graduates to improve on your skills as a professional teachers but also to get other skills that can enable you to survive" she remarked.

Mr.Lot pario Ecwaku, the principle of NTC Unyama, said that this year`s graduation ceremony marks the final batch of graduands attaining diploma and certificate in both secondary, primary education, Early childhood Development (ECD) as well as child care as they transition to degree awarding institution in accordance with the teacher’s policy 2019. He calls upon the graduates to be people who are committed to their work because that is what they are going to be judged upon for the years they spent at Unyama National Teachers` college during their training. "Go and be our good ambassadors our dear graduates" he stressed.

Aklan Amony, one of the graduates who did diploma in education secondary explains that she faced a lot of the challenges ranging from the issues of school fees, access to educational materials to having what to feed on, because her father was not able to raise her fees that forced him to one time told her to drop out and join police but she refused and later she requested the principle to allow her complete as she would be looking for the tuition during holydays which the principal accepted. "I am happy today that I have graduated, my journey was really horrible but I thank God and those who supported me to have me achieve this" she acknowledged.

Johnson Odongkara, a parent whose daughter got distinction in diploma in education secondary applauded the management of National Teachers’ College Unyama for always producing good teachers, that makes us as parents to see value for the resources we always inject on our children.
