Representatives of Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF in the 11th Parliament of Uganda have supported Gulu Army Senior Secondary School with a Laboratory and all its equipment.
The facility that was commissioned recently, is aimed at boosting students’ performances.
Hon. Huda Abason Oleru, the Minister of state for Defense and Veteran Affairs who commissioned the laboratory block appreciated the school administration and UPDF army for the great efforts towards strengthening science education.
“Our children have been getting difficulties but now with the science lab, it will bridge the gap and I want to thank the school administration for the great work, the school is an organized institution and I appreciate the UPDF for supporting it,” said Minister Oleru.
Hon. Maj Gen. Henry Matsiko, who represented the 10 UPDF MPS said that they did the contribution to help bridge the gaps in the science education department of Gulu Army Secondary School after a thorough consultation.
“Whatever we are doing is within what we were briefed on, we should not make our own agenda, we present a discipline institution that gave us the energy to start on a different note and we are happy it has yielded fruits and we are not doing this for cheap popularity,” said Hon. Matsiko.

Maj Gen. Felix Busizoori, the commander Gulu 4th infantry Division, requested the minister to spearhead the expedition of the school land encroachment case that is still in court since it has stopped the progress of infrastructural development of the school.
” Honorable, I’m appealing to you to help us with the case about the school land that is in court, we have over 84 families that have encroached on the land and the school is sitting on 4 acres only, which does not have enough space, the school children need space to exercise,” Maj Gen. Felix Busizoori emphasized.

The UPDF MPs raised over Uganda shillings 204 million that was used to construct the laboratory block, fully furnished with equipment to help practical classes since the school did not have a well-established laboratory.
