Technology experts in West Nile have urged the public to embrace meaningful use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to widen their thinking without draining their human intelligence as they live in this era of technology.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that enable computers to perform a variety of advanced functions, including the ability to see, understand and translate spoken and written language, analyze data, make recommendations, and more.
The AI technology since its introduction has been adapted by many young people especially university students mainly for their research and other assignments raising concerns on the quality of graduates.
Laban Emazu the data officer and ICT lecturer at Uganda Christian University Arua campus emptied that AI detectors are now in place to kick plagiarism and promote critical thinking in students.
“AI itself can also be detected sometimes for plagiarism, we use AI detectors an anti-plagiarism software which has a content of detecting AI, we normally subject students’ works to these AI checkers”, Laban disclosed.
Equally, Robert Kajobe, a researcher and director of graduate training research and innovations at Muni University urged teachers to guide students to positively use AI without impacting on their human intelligence.
“Artificial Intelligence is very very important and the world is going towards that we take it seriously, it can be used positively or negatively, teachers guide the students. Artificial intelligence the students should use as supplementary not really relying on it, focus on critical thinking,” Kajobe implored.
Among other tasks performed by Artificial intelligence (AI) include speech recognition, making decisions, and identifying patterns.
Aldo Adomati the co-founder of the host hub however fortified students not to negatively perceive Artificial Intelligence Ai but rather embrace its meaningful use.
“The impact of Ai should not be looked at a very negative because some few years from now all of us shall be using Artificial intelligence, there’s no technology that can be developed without human interaction, and a machine gets more intelligent when a human operates it, when you are doing research, Ai should just be there to lead you to think broader,” Aldo recommended
