Police flying squad unit together with the regular officers attached to Arua stepped up operations so as to arrest robbers, thieves and burglars who had become a menace to the security of Arua municipality and the surrounding areas. They made a major breakthrough on Saturday 03rd Feb 2018 at 4:00am when they arrested one of the top suspects Baku Stephen with stolen items from the residence of Mr Alukutu Swaib, a business man at Odianyadri trading centre, Vurra Sub County, Arua. Suspect Baku Stephen, male/adult,38yrs, lugbara, a broker who resides at Mutukula Corner Cell, Jiako parish, Arua District is believed to be in a bigger group of thieves and robbers who have been terrorising the communities of Arua municipality and the surrounding areas like Ociba, Mvara, Anyafio cell, Nsambya, Awindiri, Arua hill area, Ewuata and other areas. Others are yet being trailed down. He was charged with burglary and theft being investigated under Arua CRB384/2018. The suspect is detained at Arua central police station meanwhile the recovered items are being exhibited. When investigations are over, the suspect will be produced in court to answer to those charges. His arrest came up as a result of quick sharing of information with police. Therefore members of public are advised to always be equipped with the phone numbers of their area police posts, stations or any officer in authority and give them timely information so as to get quick response from police.
