The youth in Arua diocese have secured 15000 tree seedlings of different species to be planted by parishes, schools and other institutions as a way of preserving the environment.
The Diocesan Youth Chaplain Father Kizito Yandu urges the youth to take up the lead in planting the trees.
On the mode of selection for the beneficiaries and the funding Fr. Kizito said that old schools, all parishes, other institutions with young people who are working and the mode were targeted for the project.
One of the beneficiaries who received 50 tree seedlings says that apart from one that died due to the dry season all the other seedlings are doing well.
The Head Prefect of Bishop Angelo Tarantino memorial school Morris Yandu says they received 50 seedlings in term one which they planted and the progress is good.
The tree campaign started last year and out of the 15000 seedlings, 5000 seedlings have been picked and planted by some institutions. End
