Terego district local government has drawn plans to open up three community access roads in order to improve on transport system in the district. So far, the district has highlighted three roads to be opened with more yet to be identified.

Dratele Sigfred Budra, the district engineer says, he is hopeful that, the budget allocated can finish all the works on the three designed roads. ″We have Ajiraku -Ocodri road, o’bizea-Andinia road, and Akua-Ayiondi road. These roads have been designed and the designs are already out. And possibly if all goes well, the budget we had allocated for Terego district can work on all these roads, ″ said Sigfred.

Meanwhile, the deputy mayor of Leju Town council Hon Thomas Anguyo states that, “although the district has no enough money to work on all the community access roads, there are still others that need to be opened questioning the district leaders on how farmers in the affected areas will boom their income level if roads are in poor conditions.”

″Some of these feeder roads at grass root are impassable and how will a farmer transport his or her goods to better markets to get enough income if the roads are poor? ″ questioned Thomas.

However, the state minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon Obiga Mario Kania, also the area Member of Parliament for Terego East Constituency applauds the district leaders for having thought to start opening up community roads in the district.

Rural road connectivity is imperative for promoting access to economic and social services.
