TEREGO DISTRICT COUNCIL APPROVES OVER 1 BILLION UGX AS SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET

Councilors in Terego district have approved a supplementary budget of 1, 084,090, 566 Ugandan shillings for the financial year 2024/2025 for continuity of service provision, and at the same time approved the revised budget estimates of recurrent and development revenue and expenditure for the financial year 2024/2025 totaling Ugx 32,837,704,116 to be revised upwards to Ugx 33,921,794,682 inclusive of the supplementary schedule.
The Secretary of finance Hon Opima Geoffrey who presented the budget before the councilors said that, “It’s my role to declare financial commitments to the council for approval in accordance with the local governments financial and accounting regulations (2007), regulations (25) 1 and 3 and regulations 28.”
Meanwhile, the district speaker Hon Olema Kasto called upon the councilors to take the supplementary budget and unite amongst themselves in order to bring good services for the people in the district.
“I want to request that all what happened in the due course is no more but I want us to relax and restart the district with fresh minds and proceed as normal,” said the speaker.
A supplementary budget is a request by departments and agencies for additional funding in the course of a financial year. It is meant to take care of expenditure that was not factored in during budget-making.
