The bishop ordinary of Arua diocese Rt. Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki has yet again curved a new sub parish out of the then Logiri parish in Vurra vicariate in order to accommodate the growing Christian population in the diocese.
The formerly Ezoo zone under Logiri parish was declared a sub parish by the bishop on Saturday July 27, 2024 during the ordination of priests at sacred heart cathedral Ediofe.
This according to the bishop comes after a due consultation, “Given the big population we have in Arua diocese, we need more parishes, I Rt Rev. Sabino Ocan Odoki after a careful study and consultation and consideration together with the members of the board of consultants and in accordance with canon law, I decree that Ezoo zone is now elevated to the status of a sub parish and shall be called St. Kizito Ezoo sub parish,” Odoki decreed.
The newly created Ezoo sub parish will territorially consist of St. Kizito, St. Mary, Mbaro, and Zamba chapels and is expected to be effective as soon as possible.
On 27th March this year during the event of the chrism mass, Bishop Odoki appointed Fr. Celestine Onzima as the curate of Logiri parish with a mandate to prepare Ezoo zone for a parish status.
The bishop however reappointed Rev. Fr. Celestine Onzima to be the first parish priest of Ezoo sub parish. “The chapels under the new sub parish shall no longer depend on the mother parish that is Logiri parish, on the creation of the new sub parish I have to also provide a parish priest and the first parish priest will be Fr. Celestino Onzima” Odoki pronounced.
The creation of Ezoo sub parish brings the numbers of parishes in Arua diocese to 61 organized into 13 deaneries and 4 Vicariates.
