CLERICS IN TEREGO DISTRICT CONCERNED OVER INCREASED FALSE PROPHETS AND WITCH DOCTORS

The continuous rise of false prophets in Katrini Catholic Parish is worrying its leaders who call on the Christians not to permit themselves be confused by them. This issue materialized in one of the meetings held recently at the Parish center.
The Parish priest for Katrini Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Tonino Pasolini said that, the matter can only be resolved with virtuous catechesis in the Christian societies emphasizing that, many Christians in the area are already confused by the so-called false prophets.
“Let’s use catechesis to educate our members of the community on the jeopardies of going to false prophets as well as witchdoctors and if not, the work we do will become more difficult.” said Fr. Tonino.
But Pio Anguyo, the lay apostolate coordinator for this Parish appeals to the government to have all the traditional herbalists registered so as to curb the vice.
“All those who are giving herbs or are telling lies to people should be registered with the sub county or the district so as to curtail the iniquity,” requested Pio.
Last year in one of the events held in Katrini sub county, the Bishop for Madi and West Nile Diocese Rt. Rev Collins Andaku equally condemned the action taken by Christians who go to witchdoctors saying that “we don’t need to worry, Christ is there to take our burden not witchdoctors and there are many people when they are stressed, they feel it is the witchdoctor to relieve them, witchdoctors are equally confused and they are equally also stressed and why do you take your burden to him or her when God is there to take your burden through Christ?” challenged the Bishop.
On the other hand, the District police commander for Terego Mr. Baganzi requests the entire people in the district not to go to false prophets and traditional healers.
“These people are only pretenders as they are not scientific at all and even these days witchdoctors are thieves, there is no witchdoctor who is going to tell you the truth, they are simply seeking for money” said the DPC.
The second reading of peter chapter 2:12 describes false prophets as spiritual beasts and are immeasurably more noxious than the physical ones as they pervert thinking and destroy the soul.
